The follow up to Disco Biscuits, Disco 2000 was an anthology of stories which were set in the last hours of 31 December 1999. They were written in the late 1990s in response to the escalating pre-millennial tension. It featured 19 specially commissioned stories from some of the world's top writers, encompassing all genres from cyberpunk to chemical, horror and crime. These included Douglas Coupland, Nicholas Blincoe, Robert Anton Wilson, Neal Stephenson and Poppy Z. Brite.
Disco 2000 embraced all the classic end-of-the-millennium motifs - hedonism, insanity, religious mania, suicide cults, future technology, time travel, chemical excess and media conspiracies - all of which filled people's imaginations as the end of the century approached.
The party starts here. With a cast of crazy scientists, nomadic DJs, fetish queens, conspiracy theorists, killer ants, graffiti artists, gangsters, convicts, cult leaders, Netheads, replicants, religious maniacs and ballroom dancers.
It's the last night of the millennium and anything could happen. Every imaginable religious cult and faction is descending on the holy city of Jerusalem, while in London people are mysteriously disappearing. The leader of a cult is drawing together his tribe, while in Manila a man is eating a bowl of breakfast cereal. Around the globe, TV broadcasts the end-of-the-world predictions of crackpot professors and in every city the parties are going of control.
